I'm sure you've all taken a look at his site, but if you haven't, regardless of whether or not he comes here, it's one of the best bilingual blogs around.
How about this one from A Likely Story?
What about Serenity's Journal? She needs a solid hosting engine, and is very good.
-H.
I ran across a good one today, or at least I liked this post:
Is it just me or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. Also they track her calves to their stalls.
But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.
The solution is to give every illegal alien a cow.
I'm nominating the future President of the USA, Trey Givens. He's asked extremely nicely and complimented us all to boot.
I also seem to be bad at picking blogs, but: Blogeline's Journal, can I hear a hearty round of Yays?
Here is a bright, young, talented writer who would make a good Munuvian IMHO
His name is Hunter Williams
His blog is Locke or Demosthenes?
UPDATE: Hunter is about to depart for a 100 day journey to China and declines at this time since he does not anticipate much if any blogging during this time. I have asked him to contact me upon his return.
Family life with an artist's passion and a slightly twisted viewpoint: Mostly Fluff. What'cha think?
Hi all,
JKS from Electronic Countermeasures here. I've accepted the kind nomination from BravoRomeoDelta of Anticipatory Retaliation to go over the Blogspot wall and join the munuviana fold.
Thanks to all who gave me a "yay!" rating after BRD's nomination.
Regards,
JKS.
Invincible Girl is alternately hillarious and poignant. I'm having a great time running through her archives. She's been on Diaryland since the beginning of the year.
Natalie Dee's Dairyland is the Diaryland home of a humorously disturbed artist. Natalie Dee has a separate site where she puts her artwork. Good stuff here.
JKS of Electronic Countermeasures target="_blank" sez Yep!!
Still no final word elsewhere...
Why does it say Munuviana: Comment Preview as the very top of the page?
Yes, I ran across this fine blog slow loading on blog*spot and thought it might make a fine addition to the munu universe. What do ya'll think? Ramblings' Journal.
His blog is Esoteric * Diatribe and it seems to be a shame to let anyone who can come up with the Waffle Google Bomb should be on blogspot. He's a political.. but *shrugs*
How about Eric's brother, Big Stupid Tommy? He's been at this way too long to still be in blogspothell.
I hope no one is upset about my posting this -- but from the snippet, I heartily endorse this person for inclusion in the MuNu fold:
I think it’s time for me to stake my small claim on the net, and start my own web log. I need a way to vent at the many stupid people and things I see in the world today.I want to thank Jane for encouraging me to do this. If you like biting commentary, pay her a visit at http://www.burnt-fuse.com/weblog/
A little about me- I am an almost 40 single dad who lives in a desert town east of Reno. (Yes- there is more to Nevada than Las Vegas dammit!)
You may or may not like what I have to say, and that’s fine- but don’t email me complaining about “well you didn’t criticize so and so for doing such and such.” The truth is I have a life and don’t get to see all current events, and those who defend somebody’s stupidity by using another person’s dumb behavior annoy me.
I consider myself to be independent minded, which means I wouldn’t survive in politics-lol. I praise and criticize anybody regardless. I may lean one-way or another, and reserve the right to change my mind.
My pet peeves are stupid people, stupid people, and…. stupid people. You know the kind- the ones that are the poster children for birth control.
What say you, my fellow loverly Munuvians?
Any friend of Burnt Fuse's is a friend of mine. I know that, in the past, my blooger selections were a little on the edgy side -- but I am assured that Henry is funny, but not too "out there." Heh.
Pixy, I have requested a sample of Henry's writing -- did you want me to send it to you directly or post it here for Munuvian perusal?
Thanks,
Emma
Check out this one. She's a guest poster over at Goldie's today
I'd like to nominate Generation Why? Mostly because I wanted to comment on this post, but the "comments" are a message board---eeeeeuuuwww!!!!!! We must help Jason flee Bogsplot!!!!
Any of y'all read A Voyage to Arcturus?
Phil Carter's Intel Dump - Declined
Big Hominid's Hairy Chasams - Declined
My Pet Jawa - No Response
JKS of Electronic Countermeasures - Undecided
Belmont Club - Undecided
I'd like to suggest Wince/Nod at Wince and Nod. He/They write good stuff, and it seems criminal for a Large Mammal of the Ecosystem to still be blogspot.
Has anyone given consideration to Cannon joining the munu ranks? I think that he'd be a good fit, but that's just me. What does anyone else think?
But what about Geekwitha.45?
I like his blog.
And I have yet to hear back from No Quarters, but I did send the invite.
I nominate Mike the Marine at From the Halls to the Shores. He's temporarily sort of not around so much but even part time Mike is better than most.
I just want to say that you, Pixy, simpy ooze this. Cannot wait until I am able to get in there and up to my elbows in the templates. SlagleRock will be just tickled, er, as tickled as a big, honking, macho-type guy is allowed to be under the "Man Handbook: Rules for Guys" guidelines...
How about Serendipity* which may already be moving to here.
Also GRRR - similar age to Mookie but with more boyfriends :-)
Another blogspotter at The Russian Dilettante - nice blog, can be a bit heavy with Russian politics and he doesn't like anti-french jokes.
The last blogspotter still on my roll is Interested Participant.
Dunno how formal this needs to be.... do I hear a seconder anywhere?
An Indian blog with an emphasis on design?
Kingsley
If it is not restricted to refugees from blogspot, what about The Gray Monk. I know he lives in England but you can't hold that against him :-) After all he is part Irish, part South African, part Anglican and all enjoyable....
I just remembered Phil Carter's Intel Dump is on blogspot. He does good work, although I don't read him that often (because I already know everything already) and he may be way, way too entirely news/politics oriented for mu.nu, but I thought I might toss it out there.
This just feels odd, blogging off-turf, as it were... Take some getting used to.
Anyway, the purpose of this is to propose a site. I just set my nephew up over at MBlog, on MT, but I'd love to have him over here if possible. He's just recently back from overseas (Japan, sandbox, then Japan again) with the USAF, and currently at McChord AFB.
I tentatively have him at Combat Arms, but I'd feel better if I could get him established here instead of moving him later.
Sound do-able? Sure hope so. Shoot, there's so little there now, even I could move him... Teeheehee.
Hit me in my email if you have any questions or need any info.
If we're still looking to expand the munu collective, y'all may wish to check out My Pet Jawa. To be absolutely fair, it's very tounge-in-cheek, although it could also be construed as being entirely insensitive. Additionally, it is strongly political in content, but I still think it might be worth at least considering.
In my conversations of conversion, I recieved this question, to which I have precious little answer to - therefore, I make your collective problem in the hopes that y'all will have a better answer than my "dunno."
I'm assuming I'd be using Movable Type, but I've heard that the software isn't Mac-friendly (I'm on a 1999-era Mac G4 with the latest OS X), which makes me hesitant to make the leap.
Thoughts?
How about Nic at Shoes, Ships and Sealing Wax? She wants to be one of the Cool Kids now.
But I'm fond of Desert Cat. I think he might veer into Matters Religious slightly more often than many of the existing Munuvians, but because of his libertarian leanings he keeps up on a lot of important issues like the folly of the U.S. War on Drugs and other abuses of power.
He calls them like he sees them, and I respect that. And he's wasting away on Blogspot.
Please advise.
I nominate the Frank J Fanclub blog.
What do people think?
How about my buddy, Johnny_Oh at Closet Extremist.
Now that I'm an old-timer around here ;)...
Seriously though, I would also like to put forth the idea of nominating Big Hominid's Hairy Chasms. One bit of fair disclosure, is that he does sell a bit of his own artwork on the side, but so far he has devoted a separate blog to merchandising, although he does occasionally post links to stuff he's selling.
Now for political blogs, I like Counterspin Central, and Hesiod has been at it on Blog*Spot for a long long time. I will await the vote on this one before I propose the approach.
http://countermeasures.blogspot.com/
He's pining for the fjords moping a little since Anticipatory Retaliation moved. There's nothing more sad than a scholarly blogger weeping alone in the dark and forgotten corners of the 'net.
So, is this the correct line for that free government cheese?
Mr Mouse - now squeaking from beyond the black hole.
Excuse me, someone left the door unlocked. If'n you don't mind, I think I'll just look around a bit.
How about a nice baseball themed blog?
Frinklin Speaks and Madfish Willie listens!
How's about Blogo Slovo? Dave is next week's Bestofme Symphony host.
I think Lawren would be a good candidate. After all, she has me blogrolled, and that's what's important.
I posted in the comments at Munuviana about asking the Belmont Club to join in. Jim's got another one along the same lines. These are far more political than most of the current Munu blogs but seem to fit in with the general Munu flavour of rationality.
I'd understand if people felt this was outside the Munu "vibe". On the other hand it could lend gravitas to the whole Munu project. Ummm, sorry, no offence to y'all. Moreover I've not even asked the Belmont person himself so don't know that he'd be interested. But I figure we need to decide first.
How about Eric from Straight White Guy.
He's already on MT, but has been having trouble with his install and his hosting service. He kind of mentioned it in passing today, so I thought I'd throw his name out and see if it stuck.
He's got an interesting writing style... King of the '...' thingys... he used to be some sort of communications guy in the Marine Corp.
He has a lot of regular visitors and commentors and solid middle of the road subject matter. Go check him out, you'll like his site if nothing else.
Plus, he has a beautiful site design, even if I do say so myself!
Welcome one and all to the grand opening of the new Munuvian Immigration and Naturalisation Centre!
Yay!
